Markets and pantries offer fresh and long-life food at a subsidised cost (but not free) to those on lower incomes or who cannot afford full-price food. Access is usually by referral or self-referral and you will usually pay a reduce cost per item, or a fixed fee which allows you to choose a certain number of items or quantity of food.
Markets that are part of the FoodSavers Network offer discounted fresh and long-life food for a small weekly membership fee, £1/visit of which is saved into a Credit Union savings account in your name, plus other member benefits. Find FoodSavers projects here.
